THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME

“God’s the one who rebuilds Jerusalem, who regathers Israel’s scattered exiles.  He heals the heart broken and bandages their wounds.  He counts the stars and assigns each a name.  Our Lord is great, with limitless strength; we’ll never comprehend what he knows and does.  God puts the fallen on their feet again and pushes the wicked into the ditch.” (Psalm 147: 2-6 The Message)

Pick a sport, any sport, and for each one there will be a debate over who is the G.O.A.T., the greatest of all time.  Listen to individuals spanning over various generations and you will hear similar debates on who earns the title of the greatest entertainer, the greatest singing group, the greatest invention ever, the greatest fighter, the greatest voice for freedom, the greatest moment in history, and a plethora of other “greatest” designations, including the greatest perpetuator of the gospel to walk the earth.  I’ll settle the last one, by telling you the answer is not the Apostle Paul.  It’s Jesus, God in the flesh!  Well that’s my belief.

When it comes to the discussion of “Who Is The Greatest Of All Time,” how could anyone not just automatically name God?  Looking at our opening verse alone, I see that He is the one who rebuilds people, the One who regathers those who have scattered, the One who heals broken hearts and attends to various types of wounds.  He is the One whose knowledge cannot be challenged.  He can count the stars and He assigns their real names.  God, our Lord, is great!  Who can match His unlimited strength?  Who can comprehend the knowledge He contains or putting it another way, who can contend with His omniscient character?  If you need to be picked up, He is the One who can stand you back on your feet!  He is the One who can distinguish between the righteous and the wicked and His fair discernment determines their destiny.  Oh how great is our God!  He is the greatest of all time!

I will give you one more verse below that attest to the fact that God is the greatest of all time.  But as you meditate on this topic today, to keep you God-conscious, think of your own experiences with God.  Think of your own testimony that tells the undeniable truth about His greatness and you will find yourself reaching back into the archives of old hymns and start singing, “How Great Thou Art.”  Meditate on His word make it a point to look in your collection of personal memories that substantiate our position regarding the greatness of God as you go through this Wednesday morning!  Continue thru the day!  Be blessed!

My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.  “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.  For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your way sand my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55 :8-9 NLT)

Still committed to the climb,
