“Trust [confidently] in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us.” (Psalm 62:8 Amplified Bible
Since it is major league baseball playoffs time, leading up to the World Series, let me use a baseball as an analogy to describe your experience today. Let me take you out to the old ballgame. (Hint: Grab your coffee, healthy smoothie, or one of many bottles of water that you will consume today, in place of peanuts, popcorn, and candy too.)
If you are not a baseball fan from a literal perspective, let me tell you from a spiritual perspective that you will play today in another “baseball game” of life. Everyday is a new game. Every awakening morning provides you with the chance to step up to the plate and face whatever type of pitch life throws at you. Today is no exception. Life is a series of games and the series last for a lifetime. (Play like you want to receive the MVP Award!)
Play ball! Yet recognize that you will have fast balls thrown at you, speeding at you so hard that you think you will not be able to handle them. You will have knuckleballs that twists in all directions, and you will struggle to see where the ball is going. Stay in the batter box! You will have change-up pitches thrown at you that require you to adjust your plans, modify your personal spending, and make praying an urgent priority. Keep your stance the same though! Stay in the batter box! Keep standing on the promises of God! Keep trusting in Him!
Now listen, this applies to all of us. Sometimes we will be almost perfect at the plate, like four-for five, and we will progress with ease down the baselines, running with our eyes on Jesus and motivated by the assurance, we will be seen running the base paths with the confidence of making it home. There will be other times, however, well let’s be honest, times where we all will struggle at the plate, and it will seem like our opposition will be victorious. But hang on in there! As I said before, life is a series of games, and in the end, it is like you have heard said, “We win!” An “Amen” goes right here or perhaps join the other saints looking down from glory and team up with the believers down here who wear the same uniform as you do, the white one; the one that has your team’s name embroidered on the front, in red, “Saved!” Join them in an imaginative wave of praise to our God who will help us get progressively better during this series. Get your hand up right now!
Okay, you have to go to work. But first, knock the dust off your shoes, and look towards the place from where your help comes from! Have an outstanding day! Play your best! One final tip: Call timeout when you need to and get expert batting instructions from the Lord! Have a great Thursday! Hope to interact with you via Mark Writes tomorrow! I have to go play myself right now! Be blessed!
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:1-2 MEV)
Still committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
