THE LAST FEW DAYS?

So be alert [give strict attention, be cautious and active in faith], for you do not know which day [whether near or far] your Lord is coming.” (Matthew 24:42 The Amplified Bible)

I have really watched my diet lately, better said, the last few days.  Why so? Well this morning I have an early appointment at my doctor’s office.  They will run some tests to make sure the last medication they gave me did what it was supposed to do.  The nurse that called would not take my word over the phone that, “I’m doing just fine.”  I have to go in regardless of my own evaluation.  It’s been a little over a month since I received the medication.  I finished it as instructed, but I waited until the last few days to amend my dietary habits.  You know how we are.  I won’t even drink my normal two cups of coffee this morning to make sure my blood pressure readings are normal.  Water will be just fine.

What if we were to be privileged to know that Jesus was returning in thirty days?  Would we amend our ways right away?  Would we wait until “the last few days” before we got our acts in order?  Would we try to look good as we could on “the last few days?”  What about the days before “the last few days?”

Well you know all of us should be answering, “No” to the “would we” questions above.  We all know that we need to take the “medicine” the Lord gave us from the word, so that we won’t have any anxiety at all about our appointment with Him.  And listen, since we don’t know when our appointment is scheduled, it goes without saying that we should be following the prescriptions that He left for us in His word, in His perfect work, and in His persistent, sacrificial service assignments, as well as the one He specifically gave us in regard to work for the kingdom.  So, don’t be like I find myself today, at this very moment, hoping my test results and vital measurements are excellent.  Instead, when it comes to preparing for your appointment, start right now, or continue doing what you have been doing that is in accordance with the will of God and follow the primary prescriptions that the Lord gave us, including: (1) Be my witnesses. (2) Recruit disciples. (3) Retain disciples, and (4)Really loving on another.  Have a great Monday!  No, have a wonderful Monday!  Be confident about your appointment.  Give what you have read some consideration.  Be blessed!

“Now then, the Lord of armies says this: “Consider your ways!” (Haggai 1:5 NASB)

Still committed to the climb,
