“Greet the brethren who are in Laodicea and also Nympha and the church that is in her house.” (Colossians 4:15 NASB)
It is Sunday! Praise God! We can enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. We can give thanks to Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good! Our places of worship may be set up differently than the way the Psalmist describes where he is going to worship in Psalm 100, but in principle we will attend our local church and praise the Lord, express our thankfulness for all He has done! We will thank Him and bless His name. Someone will declare, “The Lord is good all the time” and the congregation will respond in one voice, “And all the time the Lord is good.” Yes, today is a day where we will be energized, edified, educated, empowered, and encouraged. We will hear the voice of the everlasting Lord; a voice that will speak to how we can live victoriously. Today is a good day.
There is one thing I want you to do. Participants in the Bible Study classes at my church have heard this already, but I need to share it with a bigger audience, other members of the universal church. In the Scripture above, the Apostle Paul writing to the church at Colossae, mentions Nympha and the church at her house. Her house was a meeting place for Christians during her time. Her house -there was no great brick structure or stained, glass windows. Her house -there was no pews with brass name plates attached to them from years past when persons or families brought a pew to subsidize the church expenditure for the pews. At her house – there was no color coordinated decorations adorning this house where the church met. At her house were believers, gathered together in on common bond and connected by the love of God. The church met a Nympha’s house. Now here is what I want you to do. After you leave your local church and go home, remember that you are the “church” – at your house. You are the representative of the church – at your house. At your house -knowing how I have just described you, act accordingly and let others acknowledge by your actions that you are actually part of the universal church; part of the active body of Christ; one who can proclaim.
Start being the church in your home every day, and, in fact, you should represent the church every where you go. You are a very good obedient and faithful person. Therefore you must purify, perfect, protect, preserve, and persistently have a positive, godly, impact on others every where you go. Why? You are the salt of the earth. Enjoy worship today! Be blessed!
“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.” (Matthew 5:13 NASB)
Still committed to the climb.
