INSPIRED BY THE BOOK THAT I NEVER OPENED

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1 NIV)

The meditations that I have sent you over the years could be categorized or arranged by subject.  There would be the meditations inspired by interactions at the grocery store, meditations about experiences at the drive-thru, meditations about personal life encounters, meditations recalling childhood memories, and other groupings, including those inspired by home décor matters.  The thought of those groupings crossed my mind as I made up the bed this past weekend.

Some will say that certain pieces of décor serve no good reason.  Well, that’s their opinion.  Items included in their opinionated view would be the throw that I fold up and place at the end of the bed and the two books that are placed at the bottom of the bed, right in the middle to align perfectly with the center point of the six pillows at the head of the bed.  Both the throw and the books have been recently changed to match a new covering and pillow shams.  The present books are light grey and blue.  Before the change, the books were black and white.  The white book was a book of Scriptural meditations.  The black book which is now “who knows where” awaiting its next call to duty, was entitled “The Case for the Creator,” written by Lee Strobel (2004, Zondervan).  Guess what.  I never read the book; never opened one page.  There was no need.  My proof is in the word of God, as presented in both the opening and closing verses.  Furthermore, to substantiate what I believe to be the case for the Creator, God Almighty, Elohim, I referred myself to another reading of what God had to say Himself in The Book of Job, chapters 37-39.  Take a minute this Monday morning and review an excerpt from Chapter 37 (verses 1-11 MSG).  You can read or re-read these verses in context when you get home tonight and say, “I ain’t got nothing to do.”  Now you do!  Smile!

“Why do you confuse the issue?  Why do you talk without knowing what you’re talking about?  Pull yourself together, Job!   Up on your feet!  Stand tall!  I have some questions for you, and I want some straight answers.  Where were you when I created the earth?    Tell me, since you know so much!  Who decided on its size?  Certainly you’ll know that!   Who produced the blueprints and measurements?  How was its foundation poured, and who set the cornerstone, while the morning stars sang in chorus and all the angels shouted praise?  And who took charge of the ocean when it gushed forth like a baby from the womb?  That was me!  I wrapped it in soft clouds, and tucked it in safely at night.  Then I made a playpen for it, a strong playpen so it couldn’t run loose, and said, ‘Stay here, this is your place. Your wild tantrums are confined to this place.’”

Have a good Monday!  Remember your source for your personal case for the Creator!  Be blessed!

“He is the God who made the world and everything in it.  Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs.” (Acts 17:24-25 NLT)

Still committed to the climb,
