“…in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” (I Thessalonians 5:18 NASB)
This morning our meditation is provided by Valerie Ray, a fellow writer blogger, and a member of the church that I pastor. She serves faithfully as the Director of Christian Education, but more than that, she is a gifted, talented saint in more ways than one. She is most deserving of being asked to be the first guest contributor to Mark Writes. The poem below is her original work, written specifically to go into Thanksgiving baskets that our church will be giving to others later this month. However, I decided to give us all a needed jump start on focusing personally on thanksgiving; providing each of us with a prayer that is appropriate for each and every day of the year! Say it from your heart, feel it, mean it, and…”Be Blessed!”
THANKFUL and BLESSED
A prayer of gratitude and thanksgiving
Lord, I’d run out of breath
Before I ran out of words
You’ve done so much
That my heart’s ever stirred
For when I walk thru my life
Your handprint I see
Staring back at me
In all my blessings
So every now and them
For no reason at all
I stop what I’m doing
And it’s Your name I call
For You deserve my worship
And all of my praise
You Lord are my blessing
Each and every day
So thank you Lord
With all my breath
I’m grateful beyond words
I’m thankful and blessed
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.” (Psalm 106:1)
Still committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
