“When I think of the goodness of Jesus and what He has done for me
My heart cries out “Hallelujah!” “Thank God for saving me!”
Let’s sprinkle in a little more Thanksgiving related seasoning! Think of all the dates you remember; the special dates you recall; the ones that make you say, “Thank you Jesus!” Think about the times He lifted you up! Think about the times that He was the One you relied on to react with resilience, bouncing back from some regretful event! Think about how He gave you strength, filled your mouth with sanctified words, and surpassed your expectations when it came to be being blessed! Take a break and say, “Thank you Jesus” again!
Think about the veterans who protected you here and abroad, and sacrificed for you! Think about how he delivered you from what you felt was a disaster! Think about how He reminded you of the joy you found in Him! Think about how you discovered it was indeed true that you can find Him on the other end of the mainline and call Him up and tell Him what you want! Think about how He taught you by experience that even in your darkest hour, His light will shine through to brighten your day! Think about the great things that the Lord has done! And of course, think about what He did for you on Calvary! Take another break and say, “Thank you Jesus” again!
Think about the anniversaries that brought you much happiness! Extinguish the fiery darts of Satan who will try to bring up anniversaries of misfortune or much loss, dates that can bring you down! Deflect them with your shield of faith, keep them from entering your mind with the helmet of your salvation in place, and relish in the fact, come on now, that the Lord sure has been good to you!
One of my son’s reminded me at Sunday brunch that on November 7th, ten years ago I was released from the hospital. This was an anniversary that I had overlooked. But reminded of that day that I was wheeled to the car and taken home in the darkness of night, probably being the last discharged patient of the day, my soul lit up with overwhelming thanksgiving! Why? If it had not been for the Lord, I said, “If it had not been for the Lord,” where would I be? How would I be able to continue on, committed to the climb? How would I have ever grown spiritually to where I am now and how would I still continue to grow? Ten years ago and the Lord is not done with me yet! And guess what? He’s not done with you yet! He is still doing a great work in you! Yes, it’s time for another, “Thank you Jesus!” Have great Thursday! Be blessed!
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (Philippians 1:6 NLT)
Still committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
