“I GOT TO”

“Count your blessings and not your problems.” (Anonymous Quote)

Come on now!  Don’t start this day with an “I got to” attitude.  Don’t wake up thinking, “I got to get up!”  Deflect the temptation to say, “I got to take a shower.”  Prevent any thoughts that suggest with a tinge of anger or a touch of apathy such as, “I got to fix breakfast.”  Many will say, it is Monday again; it came to fast, and “I got to go to work.”  With all your might, keep from saying, “I got to drive to work.”  Get rid of that “I got to” mentality on this blessed Monday morning!

Instead, substitute “I get to” in the place of “I got to!”  Here me out!  Change your thinking to show that you are thanking God for all your blessings.  I get to get up” – a blessing!  “I get to turn on the water and it comes pouring out” – blessing!  “I get to fix breakfast with the food that the Lord provided” – a blessing!  “I get to go to work at the job I do have” – a blessing!  “I get to drive to work, be it in a humpty-dumpty, a Hummer, or a hold-over you have driven for years” – a blessing!  “I get to live one more day” – a blessing!  Again my friend, I say unto you (Sounds Biblical, right?); I say unto you, “Get rid of that “I got to mentality!’”

If you have to use the term at all, make it positive!  “I got to thank God!”  “I got to pray today!”  “I got to stay situated in God!”  I got to think of others, rather than just focus on self!”  “I got to be God-conscious!”  “I got to put God in the picture all through the day!  I got to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world!  I got to Have a wonderful Monday!  And at the end of the day, “I got to say, ‘Thank you Jesus!  I made it!”  Be blessed!

“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” (Psalm 126:3 NIV)

Still committed to the climb,
