Let’s continue with the “Make This Day” theme that we started Friday. As you saw in the title, our charge is to make this day a praise day! Oh I know you have had reason and therefore resorted to praising God Monday thru Saturday, but let’s give Him special praise this morning even before we enter the sanctuary physically or virtually. Read these few verses, just a few, scriptures that we can borrow from, identifying as we speak with how true the words written by the various Psalmists can actually be our words. As you speak these excerpts, you will be engulfed in true praise, and you will simultaneously warm your heart and lift high your spirit in recognition that God is worthy of your praise! Are you ready! Here we go, making this Sunday a praise day…again! Don’t mind of anyone hears you! They just might be encouraged to engage in praise too!
“Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.” (PSALM 146:1 NIV)
“Praise Him for His mighty deeds; praise Him according to His excellent greatness.” (PSALM 150:2 NASB)
“Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant and praise is becoming!” (PSALM 147:1 NASB)
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!” (PSALM 150:6)
“Praise the Lord! He is good. God’s love never fails” (PSALM 136:1 CEV)
“I waited and waited and waited for God. At last he looked; finally he listened. He lifted me out of the ditch, pulled me from deep mud. He stood me up on a solid rock to make sure I wouldn’t slip. He taught me how to sing the latest God-song, a praise-song to our God. More and more people are seeing this: they enter the mystery, abandoning themselves to God” (Psalm 40:1-3 MSG).
“It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening,” (Psalm 92:1-2a NLT)
Seven is a symbol of completion, and I have given seven excerpts from the Psalms to help us make this Sunday a praise day! But do you want to know something? I have a feeling that if you really want to make it a truly complete praise day, there is one more thing to do! Here it is! Start listing all the reasons you have personally to praise Him! Only you can do that my friend! Complete the meditation! Make known your praises to the Lord our God! When you get to service, and I am hoping you do, offer praise like the contemporary song says, “Can’t stop praising His name! I just can’t stop praising His name!” Aren’t you glad we made this Sunday a praise day…again? Be blessed!
Still committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
