“He orders the snow, ‘Blanket the earth!’ and the rain, ‘Soak the whole countryside!’ No one can escape the weather—it’s there. And no one can escape from God. Wild animals take shelter, crawling into their dens, when blizzards roar out of the north and freezing rain crusts the land. It’s God’s breath that forms the ice, it’s God’s breath that turns lakes and rivers solid. And yes, it’s God who fills clouds with rainwater and hurls lightning from them every which way. He puts them through their paces—first this way, then that—commands them to do what he says all over the world. Whether for discipline or grace or extravagant love, he makes sure they make their mark.” (Job 37:6-13 The Message Bible)
I live in Indianapolis Indiana, and we have experienced a mild winter. While earlier in this season blizzard conditions were experienced on the east coast and other parts of the country experienced tornadoes and storms, devastating weather, for the most part, skipped over our city. This week it was our turn to go through it! Wednesday, and Thursday, we experienced ice storms and snow that seemed like it was never going to stop, just take up residency in our area and acted like a guest that demanded one’s attention. Schools were closed and many workers were given the okay to work safely at home. As far as what we would term as extreme weather and actually, unwanted weather, it was our time to go through it. Other areas of the country had to be concerned about power outages, caused by devastating winds and for a couple of months and for a time, we seemed exempt from such experiences. Yet, when it is your turn to go through it, you must do just that – go through it depending on the Lord.
Moving away from a meteorological focus, let us say to something from a meaningful, spiritual focus, let’s go on. Let’s reckon with reality. There will be storms in your life. There will be times when unwanted conditions move into some area of your experienced circumstances. There will be times when the winds of adversity are blowing strong, and your spiritual power is threatened with a potential outage. It happens to all of us. However, when your time comes, keep the faith! When your turn comes, depend up on the power of the Lord to see you through! That’s where your strength must come from! When your time comes, regardless of the nature or type of change of conditions come in your life, hang in there and keep holding on to the hand of God! Take shelter in His arms! Listen! You are going to make it when it is your time to go through “it!” Be encouraged! Be blessed!
Still committed to the climb,
