“TOUCH ME!”

“While He was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man covered with leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”  And He reached out with His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately the leprosy left him.” (I Peter 4:10-11 NASB)

Did you see how Jesus was willing to touch the leper in the verses above?  Did you move from what the word says to what the word means to you?  And as you made such movement, did you end up saying, “Jesus, touch me?”

Others would not have touched the leper, but Jesus did.  Others would not have been willing to help this man with his problem, but Jesus was willing.  There are many that would have not even looked at the leper, begging for help, but Jesus did.  Jesus reached His hand and touched him, and he was cleansed!  Most would not have taken the opportunity to act with kindness, void of an interrogation or any investigation, but Jesus did.  Isn’t ironical that we ask, “What would Jesus do?” and it is right in front of us, in the way He lived.

It is Saturday and you have a lot to get off of your “things to do” plate, so you will have no excuse that will be used to keep you from worship service tomorrow.  But let me tell you this before you get going.  If you have a problem, look to Jesus, and implore Him to fix your problem!  Look to the Master and ask Him to make you better!  Look to Jesus, and say, “Touch me!”

Oh He may not touch you physically, but He will touch you through His spoken word.  He may not lay His hands on you physically, but He will lay something on your heart that will help alleviate your problems or enable you to minimize the problem by strengthening you as you push through the problem!  Plead with Jesus to touch you, touch you, even if just by your reading the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew, chapters five through seven.  When you do, you will see that He will touch you through His word to help you understand the progression you go through to rejoice and be glad, knowing your reward is great in heaven.  He will touch you through His word to help you manage anger management!  He will touch you in His word to help you reconcile with others!  Can I go on?  Thank you!  He will touch you in His word to help you keep your marriage vows and avoid infidelity even with your eyes!  He will touch you in His word and cause you to react different that the eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth philosophy.  You ought to be saying, “Touch me!”

Jesus will touch you through the word in areas such as giving, praying, fasting, reducing anxiety, and the problem of being judgmental and critical of others while not looking at your imperfect self.  And when He touches you. things will be better.  You know that I am right about it!  Yes, you will be amazed!  Pray for Him to touch you right now!  Get your Saturday stuff out of the way and go get some more from the word of God tomorrow!  Let the Lord touch you through with the word of God and then, act on what you hear!  See what Jesus has to say about that below!

One more thing before I close.  Know that Jesus will touch people through you, when you surrender to Paul’s statement and make it your own, “It is no longer I who live, but the Christ who lives in me.”  Be blessed!

Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” (Matthew 7: 24 NASB)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
