REFUTING YOUR REGRETS

“I do not claim that I have already succeeded or have already become perfect.  I keep striving to win the prize for which Christ Jesus has already won me to himself.  Of course, my friends, I really do not think that I have already won it; the one thing I do, however, is to forget what is behind me and do my best to reach what is ahead.  So, I run straight toward the goal in order to win the prize, which is God’s call through Christ Jesus to the life above.” (Philippians 3:12-14 Good News Translation)

When you start remembering the things you did in your past, things you regret doing, the recipe or remedy is simple: Refute the regret.  All of us have things we regret doing, things we would re-do right in God’s sight if we had the opportunity, and things where we rebelled, knowingly so, against the Lord.  Don’t let this cause you to reside in a state of sadness or even sudden or sweeping depression, as Satan revs up your memories to have you relive, in the confines of your mind, the things you have been forgiven of or even worst, have you to revive those old ways.  Refute the regret.

Follow the advice of Paul!  It might take some effort, but forget the things behind, refute the regret.  Don’t spend your time feeling guilty and unworthy, but focus your attention of being godly and how you found your worthiness in Christ Jesus.  Refuting the regret is really good advice.

Yes, there are some things we regret that try to require our attention, but again I say, “Refute the regrets!”  Attend to the things of God, not as a matter of repayment for His merciful forgiveness for the things you regret, but because you have realigned and/or you have redefined who you are in Christ Jesus.  Remember the good things!  Recall how God has been good to you!  Refute the regrets and press on.  Have a momentous day as you worship the Lord this morning!  God took away your heavy load.  Don’t pick it back up!  Now, make your way to the house of the Lord!  Afterall, it is Sunday!  Right?  Be blessed!

“I have been crucified with Christ.  It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.  And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20 ESV)

Still committed to the climb,
