“And behold, a voice came to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” (I Kings 19:13b NASB)
Before you continue reading, insert your name in the place of Elijah’s name in the opening verse. Once you have done that, proceed.
Now I know I am not the only person in the world to be asked, “Aren’t you supposed to be…?” You know what I’m talking about. “Aren’t you supposed to be in class?” “Aren’t you supposed to be at work?” “Aren’t you supposed to be in the kitchen doing the dishes?” “Aren’t you supposed to be home with your family?” “Aren’t you supposed to be where you told him or her where you said you were going to be?” “Aren’t you supposed to be on your way to work by now?” I’m going to stop with the examples, but I know your mind will offer up some of your own real-life experiences where you were asked, “Aren’t you supposed to be…?”
You produced your own examples from real life. You just had your flashbacks. Well, let me bring you into the right now and ask you one simple question that contains the words in the title above. “Aren’t you supposed to be in church this morning?” Your answer should be, “Yes!” Well get going! Have a wonderful edifying, educating, encouraging experience this Sunday morning! Oh, I almost forgot! When you read the closing verse, insert your name where it says, “to the man” and also replace the “him” before the comma with “me.” Smile! Be blessed!
“Then the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9 NASB)
Still committed to the climb,
