“But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the One who holds my head high.
I cried out to the Lord, and He answered me from His holy mountain.” (Psalm 3:3-4:8 NLT)
Back in the day, in many churches, we use to sing the song, “Call on the Lord (And get an answer!)” with resounding voices; hands reaching toward heaven and relentlessly waving back and forth; hearts rejuvenated by the real truth in the rich verses and the repetitive chorus. We were convinced that the Lord is a very present help in times of trouble! We were certain that we could look to the Lord from whence our help comes from! Oh, we sang out, “Call Him!” “Call Him!” Call Him!” And listen! It did not matter what time of the year we sang the song! Whether it was winter, spring summer or fall; seasonal or spiritual weather made no difference. “Weather” may change, but not the “whether!” This was proved by the fact that regardless of snow, rain, heat, or winds blowing, the church’s response was consistent! Everybody’s emboldened response embraced confidence…in the Lord! Weather may change, literally or figuratively, but not the “whether!” For you see, whether we had tried Him before or not, that did not make a difference! We were encouraged as we sang to try Him, because we can trust Him! Whether we had hidden issues in our lives, the church’s release of outward expression rang from the very depths of our souls to the top volume of our lungs! “Call Him!” “Call Him!” “Call Him!” Whether things were going on in the lives of church members, individually or corporately, that could not be resolved without help; whether one was sailing on the rugged seas of life; whether we were in a pit of despair and needed to be delivered; whether we were young or old, we were reminded no matter what was going on or no matter what season of life we were about to enter, “The Lord” …” I said, “The Lord!” “The Lord” would see us through! Whether folks just got out of the hospital, had relatives in a hospice, or were having health difficulties that came with the weather, it did not matter! Our lips, in loving synch with other members, reminded each other to “Call on the Lord!” Now listen friend, if you are reading this at your work desk, on the bus to work, or as you just took a break from trying to work something out all by yourself, just lift your hands as yawning; stretch them as high as you can and silently, if need be, shout “Hallelujah!” Do it again! For you will acknowledge that we can call on the Lord and get an answer! The answer may be, “I’m on my way right now!” The answer may be, “You are not in this thing alone and you are going to make it!” The answer may be, “I told you I would never leave you or forsake you!” The answer may be, “Pass your test and come out with a testimony: “God answers the prayers of His people!” The season is changing, but please remember “Weather May Change, But Not the Whether!” Be blessed!
“So trust him absolutely, people; lay your lives on the line for Him. God is a safe place to be.”(Psalm 62:8 MSG)
