“BUT THE LORD…”

“Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.  For behold, darkness will cover the peoples, but the Lord will rise upon you and His glory will appear upon you.” (Isaiah 60:1-2 NASB)

Encapsulated in the edifying word preached this past Sunday, exposed as a minor point was an emphasis placed on this expression, “But the Lord.  Specifically, let me share what I said as inspired by the Holy Spirit and supplement the expression even more for the benefit of our souls.

Here is the excerpt:  “But the Lord…”  Wait a minute!  Stop right there for a minute!  That’s a phrase that should be remembered!  Remember these words when tempted – “But the Lord!”  Remember these words when you are about to abandon Jesus, the way, the truth, and the life – “But the Lord!”  Remember these words when your spiritual discernment, aided by the Holy Spirit, helps you defeat the temptation to sin – “But the Lord!”  When you are about ready to give up on followership and fellowship – remember, “But the Lord!”  When you are going in a direction that others approve of, wrongly so because it’s a wrong direction – remember – “But the Lord!”

Here is the supplement:  Many are the afflictions of the righteous; “But the Lord” delivers him out of them all.  The mind of man plans his way, “But the Lord” directs His steps.  We will face troubles in this life and things that trouble us greatly, “But the Lord” is a very present help in times of trouble.  “But the Lord” is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.  Listen, when no one else wants to hear you out, call on the Lord, remembering He is available, accessible, and approachable.  The Scriptures say, “But the Lord” is in His holy temple.”  He is just waiting for you to call on Him.  When you have a weak moment, wake up and remember “But the Lord” is my light and my salvation!  Remember, “But the Lord” is your strength, and He is a saving defense to His anointed.

In your decision-making, in your discerning moments, in your disturbing instances, don’t forget to import a positive thought that starts with, “But the Lord!”  Have a wonderful Wednesday!  Be blessed!

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.  The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.” (Psalm 34: 19 NIV)

Still committed to the climb,
