JUST TAKE HIM AT HIS WORD

And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do so that I may obtain eternal life?”  And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good?  There is only One who is good; but if you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”  Then he *said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not give false testimony; Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”  The young man said to Him, “All these I have kept; what am I still lacking?”  Jesus said to him, “If you want to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”  But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property.” (Matthew 19:16-22)

Here is your Monday Short meditation!  (1) Don’t go to the Lord to seek validation of your wrongful thinking.  Go to Him for victory.  (2) Realize that what the Lord says to you, at times, is not what you expected to hear, but it is what you need to hear.  (3) When you hear the word, or better yet since you went to church yesterday, after you have heard the word, respond in a positive way to what the Lord had to say.  (4) Don’t run from the truth.  (5) Like the rest of us, you may be considered good, but you are not good enough.  The Lord demands more, and He is still working on you to make you better.  (6) Don’t let “stuff” get in your way of following the Lord!  (7) Make the right decision without hesitation.

Give thanks to the Lord right now!  Not because this morning’s meditation is short, but because He, the Lord is sure to send us a word that will help us at all times, even early, on a Monday morning.  Bless the Lord at all times!  Have a great and wonderful start to your workweek.  Oh, are your retired?  Well, guess what!  There is still work to be done in the area of kingdom building.  Remember, you are still here for a purpose, His purpose.  Be blessed!

“And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests] and take up his cross daily [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me].” (Luke 9:23 Amplified Bible)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
