“I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.” (Philippians 3:12 NLT)
It is still summer, and the temperatures are hitting record highs in many areas of the country in which I live. Usually, the highest temperature for the days come after the hands of the clock reach twelve noon. Mornings are cooler and they must be signaling the soon arrival of fall, as chilly starts to the day greet the school children on bus-stop corners, requiring jackets and/or sweaters. However, at the end of the school day these extra layers are not needed, and they just become extra “baggage” to lug around in weighed down backpacks, loaded with books I assume, but you never know. As the students go through the school year from fall until spring, many days will require layers on top of layers.
For you and me, this adding of layers never stops, not at any time during the calendar year, or for that matter, from a spiritual growth perspective, during our lifetime here on earth. So, keep adding layers on layer as you continually press on toward the mark. This is your “Monday Short” meditation. Smile, but also be seriously motivated. Be blessed!
“Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge.” (2 Peter 1:5 NASB)
Still committed to the climb,
