“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” (John 13:34 ESV)
First of all, before Satan or self, the flesh, leads you into thinking the wrong way, focus on Jesus words as you think about the title of today’s meditation. Oh, are you saying that wasn’t necessary to say? Good for you! This is your “Monday Short” edition of Mark Writes.
There are so many designated months, weeks, and days nowadays. All create a sense of awareness or alert us of something to be celebrated. Actually, we ought to celebrate every day that the Lord blesses us to see. Celebrate right now for once again you can say, “This is a day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!” I suggest that when you read the word “will” in the last sentence, that you put a definite emphasis on it, as if no one is going to interfere with your celebration.
Back to designated times; the greeting card industry ought to be rolling in the cash, right. For instance, the last half of October in the United States was Hispanic Heritage Month. This week in the state of Michigan (USA), it has been designated as Pharmacy Week. October 17 is being observed as the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.
Let’s you and I designate this week as a special week. I’m not talking about a week of fasting, or the few weeks where we disguise our efforts to save money or keep from laboring in the kitchen and dub the week as “No Meat Week!”
I’m talking about designating this week as “Good Loving’ Week,” a week where we will consciously love others as Jesus commanded us to do. Will it be natural and easy to do? No, it will take some releasing of consumed energy, some considerable focus and at times some colossal efforts. Nevertheless, you can do it! It will speak to the fact that you are indeed saved and confirm that you have passed from death to life. Have a marvelous Monday! Be blessed!
“We know that we have passed out of death into Life, because we love the brothers and sisters. He who does not love remains in [spiritual] death.” (I John 3:14 The Amplified Bible)
Still committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
