JUST SAY, “DON’T TELL ANYBODY”

“But the Holy Spirit will come upon you and give you power. Then you will tell everyone about me in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria, and everywhere in the world.” (Acts 1:8 CEV)

How often have you told somebody, “Don’t tell anybody,” right after you shared something they were privileged to hear, something to be kept confidential?  And how many times did that person you put your trust in, think they could tell somebody that they trusted to keep their mouths shut, so they shared what you had said in confidence?  Everybody has somebody they can trust, supposedly.  But look at how many times, in no time at all, everybody knew what you initially shared.  It was like a domino effect, a tsunami of sharing, and “Don’t tell anybody” became “Tell everybody!”

Perhaps that’s how we should ensure that the good news is shared or equip us with another technique on how we can use certain Scriptures to lead people to Christ, the Person through whom they may gain eternal life.  Try it!  Share John 3:16. Walk somebody thru the Romans Road that I’m sure you have already been taught.  Share Romans 10:9-10 with somebody.  And immediately after you do, end with this sentence, “Don’t tell anybody.”  Will the word be spread?  Based on the record of people throughout human history, it just might work.

If it does not work, come up with your own way of doing personal evangelism.  Have a great Friday!  Sometime over this weekend, be one of Jesus’ witnesses.  Be blessed!

P.S.  What I have shared with you above, this Friday meditation, “Don’t tell anybody.”  Of course, I’m kidding!  Tell everybody!  Smile!

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 MSG)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
