“See now that I, I am He, and there is no god besides Me.” (Deuteronomy32:39a The Amplified Bible)
When we think of the number “one,” we normally think of terms like “not much,” or “not enough.” It’s Sunday morning, so let me say it, “Am I right about it?” Yes, I am! We think of definitions like “the minimum” or “a small amount.” When we think about the number “one” in reference to relationships, some might agree with the saying, “One is the loneliest number in the world.”
“One” can carry with it some negative connotations or meanings. We see one dollar as not enough or not much at all. To be allowed just get on one ride at the amusement park or carnival is definitely not enough for excited youngsters. When parents keep their word on their warning, “one more time…,” it just seems like it is not fair and parents, they just don’t understand.
When someone offers you a taste of their snacks, perhaps from a bag of chips that is full to the top and they caution you, as hungry as you might be, to take just one, that makes matters worse instead of better. When the family meals is your favorite, but there is only enough for one serving, that is not enough. When you have not one single sheet of paper in your school folder, and you ask your classmate who has 500 sheets of lined notebook paper in their En vogue notebook of which you might be envious; when you ask him or her to let you borrow some paper, and they give you exactly one sheet, yes, just one sheet, you think, “Are you…kidding me?” One is not enough and that feeling potentially can be accompanied by some negative connotations or meanings. That’s from a human, everyday perspective. But look what I have to tell you about “One” before you head out to church.
The Bible lets us know, “For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus. (I Timothy 2:5).” A couple of more things about “one.” One day of every week, such as today, is set aside for the saints to gather together and worship the Lord our God. Also, one day, Jesus is coming back! Will you be ready! Which of the two people will you be like in the verse below? Enjoy service! Be blessed!
“I tell you, on that night [when Messiah comes again] there will be two [sleeping] in one bed; the one (the non-believer) will be taken [away in judgment] and the other (the believer) will be left.” (Luke 17:34 The Amplified Bible)
Still committed to the climb,
