“Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen. For by it the people of old gained approval. By faith we understand that the world has been created by the word of God so that what is seen has not been made out of things that are visible. By faith…” (Hebrews 11:1-4a NASB)
Thursday, on my daily walkabout, better known as my daily trip to the store, as I am standing in a long self-checkout line, I see a tall person, a famous person, an inductee into the Basketball Hall of Fame. She is in the line where you return merchandise. All eyes were on her. I’m sure everyone who saw her and recognized just who she was were filled with t least a tinge of excitement, being in the presence of a great celebrity, a ex-WNBA player and former professional sports team executive! Perhaps they were impressed just by her height, her humility, or her cordiality when approached. For whatever reason, their behavior exposed the fact that they were within just a few feet of a famous person.
While most of us reading this are not in a Hall of Fame at any level, there may be some of you who are. To you who are I say, “What a blessing!” For you who are not in any Hall of Fame, I hope you are a member of the Hall of Faith, an extension to those listed in Hebrews the 11th chapter, where the mentioning of individuals starts out with the words ”By faith.” I also hope that someone will notice you today; notice that you have reached the heights of heaven and became one of God’s saints, one of God’s set apart children, notice how you carry yourself in a humble way, even though you have experienced great things, but you stand out as one who has been granted by grace through faith the title, “Child of The King.” Possibly people will see your humility and your modeling of meekness, as well as perseverance. Well, that’s what I hope on this Saturday morning.
Wherever you go, may you be noticed by the way you light up every place you go, for you are the light of the world. May your cordial and kind way of interaction catch the eyes of those who come into your presence, a member of the Hall of Faith. Yes, you are a member of “The Hall.”
May others go tell somebody else, based on what they saw in you, about seeing a member of “The Hall.” Run on with determination the race before us. You are still in the race called life. No retirement is in sight! Have a super Saturday! Be blessed!
“As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses around us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us.” (Hebrews 12:1 Good News Translation)
Still committed to the climb,
