FOR THOSE WHO DESIRE TO GET CLOSE TO THE FATHER

“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18 ESV)

First of all, before I start, let me apologize to for writing Genesis as the Book for our meditation yesterday.  It was Exodus.  Typing early in the morning, well, that happens.  For you who might have caught it, great job in checking out the scripture,  Keep doing it!  Now, with that said, Let’s get started!”

A father and his three children, when traveling in the car to a destination, as well as on the return trip, the children took turns on which one would sit in the front seat, while the other two sat in the rear seat.  It did not matter how long the distance was to make a one-way trip.  Whether a long drive or a short drive, the rotation began.  Oh yes, of course there was some complaining because the front seat was deemed the best seat.  It was close to the father.  At times there was disagreement and at time disgruntlement, but the rule was adhered to consistently.  Only the person whose turn it was got the best seat.  And get this, the rotation did not start over on a new day and the three children needed no notes or calendar to know who was next to get closes to the father.

Let me let you in on something.  Unlike the three children – everyday, if you desire you can get just as close to the Father in Heaven as any other person.  Age does not matter, academic achievement does not impact one’s right to get close to the Father, acuity as related to Biblical knowledge is not a criterion that earns one the opportunity to get close to the Father.  Ascending at a higher rate than other believers is not what gets you close to the Father.  Four things will get you close every day to the Father: (1) Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and never turn away from Him.  (2) Make up when you mess up by confessing your sins, knowing the faithful, merciful father will forgive you and cleanse you of all unrighteousness. (This puts you in that desired position where your prayers go higher than the ceiling.) (3) Pray always.  (4) Stay God -conscious by listening to His voice, learning from His voice, and living according to His voice.

Now with that said, realize that being able to get close to the Father is a privilege.  Oh, what a privilege!  You can get really close this morning when you are in His special presence in the sanctuary.  Will you be there?  I hope so!  Be blessed!

“Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with Psalms.” (Psalm 95:2 NKJV)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
