“Then it happened in the spring, at the time when the kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all [the fighting men of] Israel, and they destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.” (2 Samuel 11:1 Amplified Bible)
Here is your Monday Short meditation! Yes, finally, you get a short one, but it is a strong one! Read on!
According to the on-air weather personalities, sometime late this afternoon, on this day, March 20, 2023, the Spring Season begins. Under the title above, I gave you only one verse to read, but I am sure you make the connection, remembering the time that King David’s troubles began, especially as it relates to his sin against God, committing adultery with Bathsheba, and orchestrating the murdering of her husband Uriah. If you check it out, you will see that His troubles continue all the way though Chapter 20 of 2 Samuel 11. Visit these chapters when you have time.
I’m sure I have referred to the passage above before over the years, particularly placing an emphasis on, “…in the spring, at the time that the kings go out to battle,” and “But David stayed at home in Jerusalem.”
Yet, whether this is a review, a reminder, or a reveal of something you have never read, I want to put out the alert that when the warm weather begins in the Spring, not only do the temperatures go up, but the temptation goes up. The days are warmer, longer, and throughout these days, our adversary, the devil will join forces with your flesh and the secular world to attempt to seduce us into doing things that will bring about undesirable consequences, not in just one area of your life, but as David would tell you, in multiple area of your life. It’s Springtime, so be on alert! Reach out to the Lord who will deliver you from temptation! Reach out to the Lord who will give you a way out when the door to sinfulness is swung wide open! Reach out to the Lord who will order your steps in the right direction, through His word.
One more piece of advice, inspired by our text. Be where you are supposed to be and be found doing what you should be doing, that which is pleasing to the Lord our God, and as a result your will have a better Spring season.
Get off to a good start right now! Don’t wait until late afternoon! Look at the Spring Season from a positive perspective as suggested by Robert Oren’s quote below and think about it every day of this Spring season you. Each of those days and beyond, you will have a fresh opportunity, “one more time,” to get it right and let your light shine bright! May God be with you! Be blessed!
“Spring is a way of God saying one more time!” (Robert Oren)
Still committed to the climb,
