“Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.” (Psalm 30:2 NIV)
In a classic movie originally aired in times past, two hero figures started sharing places on their anatomy where they had been wounded and scared n various situations. Every time one of the characters pointed to an injury, the other character would show one of his wounds or scars, as to say, “I can top that!” This exchange went on for a while. It got to the point where the characters were raising the back of their shirts to show unseen wounds and scars. Viewers, entertained to the point of exhilaration, also watched with elated intrigue, trying to guess where the next unseen wound or scar would be revealed.
As I thought about this scene, I realized that neither of the heroes talked about the healing of their unseen wounds or the remaining scars. Neither of them talked about how they kept from being stopped to live out their purpose in spite of their unseen wounds and scars. Neither recommended to the other how to treat or deal with any residual pain associated with the unseen wounds or scars. There was no thanks or praise given to the Lord for their healing of their unseen wounds and scars.
Of course, I turned my attention away from the heroes to you and me. Just in case either of us are hurting or if we have an unseen wound or in the future and/or lingering scars our person from past hurt; mentally, physically, or spiritually, let me give some advice that we can both use.
First, like the heroes talk about your unseen wound(s) and scar(s)with someone of like mind, a fellow believer, someone who trust in God. Vent being factual, but in fact, do not do it to merely seek pity. Just relieve your anxiety. At the least, you are recognizing and identifying the unseen things that may be unconsciously bothering you. From there you can deal with them.
More importantly, if the consciousness of your unseen wounds or scars are still being a bother, we should, turn our eyes to heaven, look for help from the Lord. He can heal all wounds and scars. He is a very present help!
Finally, if it takes a while to heal, we must not give up. As the heroes in the movie that I mentioned above, who kept fighting for a good cause, we must keep fighting on the battlefield for the Lord and keep waiting for Him to work it out. The results? You will find yourself forgetting about the unseen wound(s) and scar(s) and the harm it caused and the lingering hurt that is hesitant to leave.
One more thing that I will share as we start our Thursday morning. It’s something that the movie heroes failed to do. But that will not be the case for you and me. Here is what we must do! Thank the Lord for healing your unseen wounds and erasing the pain0filled memories that can with our scars. Thank Him that He has saw fit to leave us here for a purpose. Thank Him that He specializes in healing all our hurts and if a scar or an unseen wound is still present, testify to somebody, for their good and for your own good, how the Lord strengthens you every day to keep going on while you wait on Him and fight the good fight of faith! And remember to rejoice as you share your testimony!
Now let’s get going! Let us be heroes of faith! Let’s rely on the Lord! Remember, as mentioned above, He really, truly, our very present help! Let’s let Him propel us forward in spite of any unseen wound(s) or scar(s) and praise Him for the day that is coming when there will be no more wounds and no more scars, seen or unseen. Think about these things. Be as open as the heroes above, as least with yourself about any unseen wounds you have. I’ll do the same. Look to the hills from whence commeth our help. Our help comes from the Lord! Let’s now have not just a god day, but a better day. We are going to be alright. Be blessed!
“Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.” (3 John 1:2 NLT)
