“His name will be Jesus.” (Luke1:31b Contemporary English Version)
Do you remember those school days where you took tests every Friday, or pop quizzes unannounced? It did not matter what type of test we were quizzed on, and the level of the educational institution had no bearing on our preference for questions that only asked for a one-word answer, like “True” or “False.” We preferred the one-word answer type of exam questions. Even the non-going church students would shout “Hallelujah” to that statement.
Yes, we were glad that we did not have any long-phrased, multiple-choice answers where you were asked to choose the best answer. Side note: Everybody did not have the same “best” answer, because of different perceptions in best. Funny, but true! But let me get back on task!
We did not like being asked to answer questions that demanded that we include a thesis, theoretical proof, and a thorough explanation that opposed any anticipated antithesis or thought-out arguments. No! We preferred the one-word answer type of exams.
I have some good news for you, based on my assumption that you preferred the one-word answer type of exams. If you need an answer to the problem that has you perturbed, an answer to your personal situation that is profoundly highlighted with every color of sadness, a sure response to what has you riddled in anxiety, or and you need an answer that will accurately resolve a decision-making dilemma that presents quite a quandary, know that there is a one work answer that is accurate and applicable. That one-word answer is “Jesus!”
Who can save you from the penalty of sin? The answer, “Jesus!” Who can you draw near to and be both blessed and a blessing? The answer, “Jesus!” Who is the One who can calm all your fears, “Jesus!” When you need an exemplary role model who will set the reliable, perfect example, who is it that fits that role? The answer is “Jesus?” What is the name of the One of whom every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess? You got it now! The answer is “Jesus!” Who is sitting at the right hand of the gracious throne of God interceding for you and me? The answer is Jesus!
Who is superior to the prophets, the angels, the lawgivers, and the prophets? “Jesus!” As one of our choir members sings a song at our church services occasionally, a song that includes these words, “Who will make all my decisions for me?” the answer is “Jesus.”
Speaking of church, I hope you are on your way! And at some time during Sunday School or Morning Worship Service, you are asked a question, more likely than not, you will be able to answer the question with one word, “Jesus.”
“Jesus” is the ultimate, one-word answer to all the questions about life this week. Yes, to use repetition as some of the New Testament writers employ to assure communication takes place, let me repeat what I just said. “Jesus” is the one-word answer! Enjoy service! Be blessed!
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life…’” (John 14:6a The Amplified Bible)
