TWO PATHS

“How can a young man keep his way pure?  By keeping watch [on himself] according to Your word [conforming his life to Your precepts].  With all my heart I have sought You, [inquiring of You and longing for You]; do not let me wander from Your commandments [neither through ignorance nor by willful disobedience].” (Psalm 119: 9-10 The Amplified Bible)

I hope that you are reading this early in the morning today, Sunday, the Lord’s Day.  For if you read it early enough, it will serve as a sure reliable help or a real reminder on which path you will choose today, and every day of the upcoming week. More importantly, it will equip you with the words that can be used to motivate the young people in your house to hurry to the house of the Lord.  Make it plain to the young people but know that the essence of the following applies to adults too: There are two paths, one is named “The Word,” and the other is named “The World.”  Which one will you take?

As for you, regardless of your age, I hope you choose the former, “The Word.”  It will keep you from wandering in the wrong direction as you walk through life, inhibit you from following “The World” path.  The latter, “The World,” preferred and pushed. promoted wrongly as a better way by our enemies, Satan, self, and the secular happenings around you, will lead to places you could have avoided, leave you blind to the truth that sets you free, and sinks people like yourself, surprisingly, to various degrees of unrighteousness.

Start your week off by entering the house of the Lord!  If your situation truly prevents you from entering His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise, then tune in to your church’s virtual broadcast to ensure you stay on the right path; the path named “The Word.”  If there is no situation that is preventing you from being present, show up and encourage someone else, merely by being in the sanctuary.  While you are there, see what specific message God has for you!  Hide it in your hearts that you may not sin against God.

Intentionally, I did not keep you long this morning.  I don’t want to be the reason why you did not choose the better of the two paths.  Go now my friend, and say, as we used to express ourselves in song at the beginning of worship services, “I’m glad to be in the service one more time!”  Finally, make the words in the closing verse your profession, your prayer, and a pure presentation of the path you prefer.  Be blessed!”

“Thinking about your commands will keep me from doingsome foolish thing.  I will do right and praise you by learning to respectyour perfect laws.  I will obey all of them!Don’t turn your back on me.” (Psalm 119:6-8 Contemporary English Version)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
