DO YOU KNOW WHAT COMES NEXT?

“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.  Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.  Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.  Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.  For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” (Psalm 100 King James Version)

As I pondered on what to write this morning, the word “Sequel” kept coming to my mind.  I tried to dismiss it, but I continued to hear it over and over, “Sequel,” “Sequel,” “Sequel.”  I finally figured it was the Holy Spirit telling me what I should write.  It was as He said, “Stop thinking!  Write about the “Sequel!”  So, out of obedience, today’s meditation is born.  Actually, He made it really simple, straightforward, as I surrendered to what was more than a suggestion.  Here is where I was led to write.

We are all familiar with Psalm 100, five verses that call on us to praise and worship the Lord.  But here is the question?  Do you know what comes next?  Do you know anything or remember anything about the familiar Psalm’s neighbor, Psalm 101?  In many cases, the answer will be “No.”  Well, that will not be your answer after you finish reading.  For the Scriptures below, verses one through four from Psalm 101, will not only provide you with a sequel to Psalm 100, but they will provide you with a sequel that will encourage you, motivate you, move you to live a life today based on the ethical standards that King David expresses in what could be labeled a theme song.  Read them below. Meditate on them.  Make them your very own standard to the best of your ability.  Do it today and let them carry you through the weekend.  What comes next?  Continue to live out the sequel!  Be blessed!

“I will sing to you, Lord!  I will celebrate your kindness and your justice.  Please help me learn to do the right thing, and I will be honest and fair in my own kingdom.  I refuse to be corrupt or to take part in anything crooked, and I won’t be dishonest or deceitful.” (Psalm 101:1-4 Contemporary English Version)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
