“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coinsand loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and sweep the entire house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she will call in her friends and neighbors and say, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost coin.’ In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.” (Luke 15:8-10 NLT)
You have to read today’s title in the rhythm of the old ESPN theme music, the one would make after making a marvelous, mind-blowing move on the basketball court, or after pounding a baseball with no pity over the upper deck of a stadium, or after saving a point from a volleyball opponent by diving and stretching out on the floor to hit the ball back to the other side of the net. Yes, players of all sports have employed the old ESPN music when they made a great play, worthy of making the top ten on the morning network sports show.
There is another move that deserves an “ESPN” musical accompaniment, one that will cause heaven to rejoice, “Duh-Duh-Duh-, Duh-Duh-Duh!”. Let’s clarify the meaning of this particular “ESPN.” “E“= every one that confesses Christ as their Lord and Savior, S = Salvation, P=persons from all nations; men, women, boys, and girls, “N“=near the cross is where people come, realizing that their lost souls can be victorious souls because of seeing what Jesus did for them on the cross.
Oh, my goodness! I would like to hear that “ESPN” theme music every time that the doors of the church are opened, every time an invitation is extended on a congregational setting or in a one-on-one conversation where a person is doing personal evangelism. Oh, my goodness! I would like to hear it, same notes, same cadence, same rhythm: “Duh-Duh-Duh, Duh-Duh- uh!”
If you would like to hear it, let us go and fulfill The Great Commission. You’ve heard it before but let me use it as a closing verse to remind you that as a believer, you too must be involved in recruiting and retaining people in the kingdom for Jesus! Think about it! And every morning you hear the sports station ESPN theme music, be remind that you and I, we have much work to do. Let’s “Go!” Let’s help someone make the “ON HIGH” highlights, high above in heaven! Let us be part of bringing about joy in the presence of God’s angels! Let’s bring persons out of darkness into the marvelous light! You bring one and I’ll bring one, and as the old songs says, “We will win them, win them, one by one!” Was this motivational in regard to personal evangelism? I sure hope so! Have a great day! Be blessed!
“And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 NASB)
