POSITIONING YOUR CUP

Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need!  You have welcomed me as your guest; blessings overflow!”  (Psalm 23:1 & 5b The Living Bible)

Be blessed by this Monday Short meditation!  Let me start with a short, true story.  Like many people, when I arise in the morning, I have the intention of doing things the way that they should be done.  Filling my coffee cup about four-fifths full is one of the first early morning things I do the way it should be done.  Should be simple, easy.  The coffee was prepared the night before.  I just need to follow my routine: Turn on the coffee pot.  While it is brewing, layout a paper towel on the countertop near the coffee pot.  Set out two cups from the cupboard.  One cup I always turn right side up.  The other cup, I turn facing downward and place a packet of sugar substitute on the cup.  The latter cup if for my wife.  This is what happened Friday.  I only had to set out my cup because Mrs. King was out of town.  A problem arose and a mess was made because, unlike my usual routine, I turned my cup facing downward.  I pick up the coffee pot, obviously needing to be fully awakened by the coffee, and I begin pouring it in my cup.  I know you are way ahead of me, and you can see where this is going.  With the cup facing downward, the coffee I’m pouring hits the bottom of the cup, the solid and unrelenting bottom of the cup.  The fresh brew is bouncing off running everywhere.  My routine is messed up.  I end up wasting time, needing to quickly clean up the hot mess before it left unwanted stains on the countertop.  After the cleanup, which robbed me of the much need morning blessing of a needed cup of coffee, I pledged to myself, “This will NEVER happen again!”

Let’s get to the point.  The Lord is your Shepherd and He desires to bless you this morning.  He desires to provide you with bountiful blessings, from the start of the day until the going down of the sun and even as you rest during the hours of the night.  He wants to fill your cup with all kinds of blessings, spiritual blessings, including the blessing of being able to go through your day spiritually alert and spiritually refreshed.  He wants to fill your cup to the brim.  He is ready to act!  But you have to do something that I failed to do in the paragraph above.  You have to position your cup to receive the blessings that the Lord wants to pour out to you on this Monday morning.  Therefore, make sure you are alert, attentive, and actually looking for your blessings.  One more thing, just like people fill their cups with the flavor of coffee they need, the Lord, praise God, He is ready to fill your cup with the perfect blessings that you need this morning.  But I shall end with this meditation with the repetition of what I just said, “You have to position your cup to receive your blessings.”  Turn yourself right side up by facing upward from whence all our blessings come from.  Have a marvelous Monday!  Be blessed!

The Lord bless you, and keep you [protect you, sustain you, and guard you]; the Lord make His face shine upon you [with favor], and be gracious to you [surrounding you with lovingkindness] …” (Numbers 6:24-25 The Amplified Bible)

Still committed to the climb,
