THE UNFORTUNATE FORTUNE COOKIE

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:16 NIV)

This is your Monday Short meditation!  Smile!  I realize it’s short, but I really think that it will help you keep your path straight through the week.  Read on!

At the end of dinner at a favorite Chinese restaurant, the server brought us our check and placed fortune cookies on top of it.  Mine said, “You are going to do great things.”  The was encouraging and inspiring, and I pray the Lord uses all of us to do great things in His sight.  Therefore, my fortune cookie was not the unfortunate fortune cookie.  However, the one my wife got said, “Change your life by changing directions.”  Her fortune cookie was the unfortunate fortune cookie, from a faithful follower’s perspective.  For if you are already letting the Lord direct your path, if you are already a follower of Christ, if you already see Him as your source to show you the way, if you trusting in the Lord and not leaning on your own understanding, and if you really mean it when you say, “God is the head of my life,” and if you have recognized His sent Son as the way to being saved from the penalty of sin, the power of sin, and the presence of sin, there is no need for you to change directions.   Stay the course!  Keep following Jesus and change will come, constant change.  It is called sanctification.  Furthermore, on more than one occasion in life, you will declare as the songwriter wrote, “What a wonderful change has come over me.”  Positive change, wrought by the Lord, it will happen in your life until Jesus comes again!  Have a marvelous Monday, turning to the changeless Christ for direction.  Make use of this writing to help someone else too!  Forward to somebody!  Be blessed!

“…being content of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ.” (Philippians 1:6 NIV)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
