WHEN THE DIVINE DIRECTS YOU

“When they had approached Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus then sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with it.  Untie them and bring them to Me.  And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will send them on immediately.”  Now this took place so that what was spoken through ]the prophet would be fulfilled: “SAY TO THE DAUGHTER OF ZION, ‘BEHOLD YOUR KING IS COMING TO YOU, HUMBLE, AND MOUNTED ON A DONKEY, EVEN ON A COLT, THE FOAL OF A DONKEY.’”  The disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them.” (Matthew 21:1-6 NASB)

Why do we have to weigh the pros and cons before we decide to act when it comes to the times that the Divine directs us to do something?  Why do we lean towards the human tendency of figuring it out as opposed to leaping out by faith, doing what the Lord told us to do, believing He has already worked it out?  Why do we rationalize, reason, and rely on our obtained wisdom, rather than react and respond to the wisdom of our omniscient God in obedience?  Whatever your answers to the questions I posed, if in your response you tried to offer an excuse or excuses, I suggest that you engage your faith, empty faith, and embark to do what the Lord says to do.  The former is unacceptable.  The latter is acceptable, and actually, expected.

We do too much thinking when we should be trusting and obeying.  That’s the way it should be when the Lord tells us to do something; trust and obey.  There is no need for analysis, just action.  There is no need for a meeting to figure it out, just faithfully fulfill what the Lord has told us to do with a sense of urgency.  We don’t need to look at the contemporary trends of our times, we just need to hear what thus saith the Lord, and hurry to respond accordingly to what the One who stepped out of time and created time directed us to do.

In the passage above, the disciples did just as Jesus had instructed them.  They followed Divine directions.  You know what I say all the time about Sunday mornings, don’t you?  Well, if you don’t recall and you need a reminder, I will state it again: “God sends a specific message, by a specific messenger, at a specific time, for a specific purpose.”  In every message Hod sends. you will receive some Divine directions.  What should you do?  How about doing just what the Lord directs you to do?

As always, I don’t want to be the cause for you missing church today, not responsible at all for you being absent from the assembly of the saints.  No! No! I won’t delay you with what some of my children call “a long dissertation.”  I’m going to let you get going, knowing that this meditation will be on your mind as you are traveling to your place of worship shortly.  By the way, the Lord does desire His house to be filled. That’s biblical.  Check it out later for yourself.  Have a great Sunday morning!  Be blessed!

“While Jesus was still talking, a woman in the crowd spoke up, “The woman who gave birth to you and nursed you is blessed!”  Jesus replied, “That’s true, but the people who are really blessed are the ones who hear and obey God’s message!”  (Luke 11:27-28 Contemporary English Version)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
