Are you ready for your Monday Short meditation? Well, here it is!
A local car wash chain offers various Unlimited Packages. This is how it works. You pay a monthly fee that is deducted from your bank account. That fee allows you to go to the car wash as many times as you want, every time you pass it. As you already know, there are various packages, ranging from the basic to the premium package. The former covers a simple car wash. The latter, the premium package, covers washing everything on the outside of the car. The exterior gets a complete cleaning, the wheels are shined ever so brightly, the tires are blackened, the underbody of the car is washed, and a light wax is applied.
Here are some short observations I want to make before making my point. (1) All the unlimited packages cost. (2) None of the packages take care of the inside of the car, no cleaning takes place internally. (3) Depending on where you live, you physically have to travel from your home or starting site to get to the carwash, putting mileage on your car, and thus affecting its value. (4) These car wash sites are not located everywhere and thus they are not always easily accessible.
Now, let us compare the unlimited package at the car wash with the unlimited package you have as a believer. Let us take them in a similar order so you can easily make the comparison: (1) There is no cost for the cleansing the Lord offers. (2) The Lord will make you clean inside. (3) No travel is necessary, and your value goes higher, not lower. (4) The Lord is always accessible, easily accessible. Our gracious God is on the throne. He is always open for business. He never sleeps or slumbers.
One last point, as a matter of caution. Just because you can go as often as you need a cleansing, remember repenting is involved and your unlimited membership does not stipulate or approve continuing to be dirtied by sin. Yes, like all Christians, you are not a failure, but you will have failings. Good news! God never fails to forgive you and cleanse you of all unrighteousness. Call it an all-power wash! I am sorry, but I must make one more necessary remark. If you quit the club, if you drift away, if you become an apostate, your membership is cancelled immediately, and your unlimited access is revoked.
