BE THANKFUL

“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (I Thessalonian 5:18 KJV)

Yes!  This is another “Be” meditation.  Your charge this Friday morning, “Be thankful!”

Now a long time has passed since I have assigned you a DYO (Do Your Own Assignment), but today’s meditation is perfect to involve you in writing this composition; writing it in such a way that it is profitable, pertinent, and pertaining to expressing something personally which you can relate to perfectly.  Here’s the task. For each of the statements below, seven to be exact, complete the sentence to cooperate in contemplating the charge to “Be thankful!’ In case I was not clear that these statements are your statements, let me reiterate that this is a DYO assignment.  Whether you write words to complete the sentences or you simply think your chosen words, you will realize that when it comes to God, you have a lot for which to be thankful.  Are you ready?  Well, go to it!

  1. Be thankful that _________________________________________________________. Praise God!
  2. Be thankful for___________________________________________________________. Oh, God is surely good!
  3. Be thankful that while ____________________________________________________, Bless the Lord, O my soul!
  4. Be thankful for how the Lord showed me mercy _______________________________________________________________________

________________________.  His mercies are new every day! Hallelujah!

5.Be thankful because if it ___________________________________________________. Yes, where would you be!

6. Be thankful in the midst of circumstances, certain situations, and challenging endeavors because ________________________________________________________________. The Lord is our very present help!

7. Be thankful that while I was yet a sinner ______________________________________. Perhaps, maybe a good man might do the same.  But there is no “perhaps when it comes to the Lord!

Thank you for doing your DYO!  Didn’t it uplift you and undo any thoughts that tried to invade your mind and have you answer the question, “What have I to be thankful for?”  I’m sure it did!  Be thankful, my friend!  Be blessed!

“Oh, thank God—he’s so good! His love never runs out. All of you set free by God, tell the world! Tell how he freed you from oppression, then rounded you up from all over the place, from the four winds, from the seven seas. Some of you wandered for years in the desert, looking but not finding a good place to live, half-starved and parched with thirst, staggering and stumbling, on the brink of exhaustion. Then, in your desperate condition, you called out to God. He got you out in the nick of time; He put your feet on a wonderful road that took you straight to a good place to live. So, thank God for his marvelous love, for his miracle mercy to the children He loves. He poured great drafts of water down parched throats; the starved and hungry got plenty to eat.” (Psalm 107:1-9 The Message Bible)

Committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
