SO, WHAT IF IT’S NOT THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY!

According to positive psychologists, the words ‘thank you‘ are no longer just good manners, they are also beneficial to the self. To take the best-known examples, studies have suggested that being grateful can improve well-being, physical health, can strengthen social relationships, produce positive emotional states and help us cope with stressful times in our lives. But we also say thank you because we want the other person to know we value what they’ve done for us and, maybe, encourage them to help us again in the future.” (Source: Psych Central, September 15, 2010

This morning’s meditation can be credited, well first, to God, who saw it a fitting way of letting others know about the value of saying “Thank You.”  As far as motivation from among the living, men and women on earth, it was a sister in Christ who responded to Thursday’s edition of Mark Writes, early, about 6:30 a.m. who moved me to write what you are reading this Friday morning.  This sister, she’s my friend, a fellow-believer in the Lord, even if I have never met her in person.

Here is what she wrote, something that encouraged me to continue to do my best to “Be somebody who makes everybody feel like somebody.” “That’s you Pastor King and I thank God for you. Your messages with God’s word have gotten me through some very rough times.  God’s continued blessings. Oh, Good morning, and have a wonderful day. Thank you again!”

All praise go to God! Yet, know that I was instantly entirely motivated, energized, and encouraged by her response.  I know she is reading this issue this morning, so to my friend, I want to say, “Thank YOU!”  When I was feeling a little empty and procrastinating, not yet deciding what to write for the day, you blessed me.  So, just as you said to me, let me flip the switch and tell you, “Thank YOU again!”

And to all of those who read these daily meditations, intended to keep you God-conscious and Christ centered, aimed at providing you with hope, strength, endurance, as well as unfailing faith in God, I want to tell you too, “Thank YOU!”

What the positive psychologists said above about the words “thank you,” well, they are true.  Therefore, based on my story above, their scholarly studies, and the scriptures, let all of us express our thanks to others today.  You will make their day better!  Love you all!  And “Thank YOU again!”  Be blessed!

P.S. Just so you know, I’m trying to work on a remix of the secular song, “Thank You Next,” changing the lyrics to focus on “Thank You Lord!”  For we should give thanks to the Lord because He is good!  Final note: I thank God for YOU this morning!  Smile!

“We always thank God for YOU all and always mention YOU in our prayers.” (I Thessalonians 1:2 The Good News Translation)

Committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
