“By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days.” (Hebrews 11:30 NIV)
As you celebrate the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, you will probably hear a sampling of some of the civil rights songs of the sixties. One of them you might hear is based on the spiritual, “Don’t Let Nobody Turn You Around.” We know it most likely as, “Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around.” It’s a freedom song often sang in marches during that era.
In this Monday Short meditation, I want to encourage you, you who have found freedom in Christ, to continue walking by faith and talking about your faith for the benefit of others who need to be saved or brought back into the church. I want to encourage you to exercise your freedom, meaning that you cannot do anything you want to do, but that you are free to live like Christ prescribed for you, to live as one of His in all aspects of life and in all the environments and engagements with others in which you find yourself. Yes, as you remember Dr. King, and remember the King of Kings! Remember Jesus and keep on walking and keep on talking in a way that He will look down on your and say, “Well done!” My friend, put forth the effort, no matter what opposition the enemies place before you. By enemies I mean, Satan, self, and the secular world! Have a good day! Be blessed!
“I can do anything I want to if Christ has not said no, but some of these things aren’t good for me. Even if I am allowed to do them, I’ll refuse to if I think they might get such a grip on me that I can’t easily stop when I want to. (I Corinthians 6:12 The Living Bible)
Committed to the climb,
