THE STRAIGHT TRUTH

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV)

Good morning!  Here is your Monday Short meditation, hopefully. Each year at my elementary school, students were selected to cutout designs to go on the classroom windows by our art teacher. Although pupils could volunteer for this project, the art teacher, Mrs. Davis, selected those who could cut straight. Everyone wanted to be one of the selected few because you got to work on this project during some other class time during the normal school day. Unfortunately, but rightfully so, I was never chosen because my cutting skill was sub-par, too crooked, jagged, just wasn’t my forte.  My cutting skill, as it applies to cutting any type of material with scissors, needed much improvement. I’m telling you the straight truth.

Sunday morning, in preparation for a Sunday School class, I cut out some cards I had printed for an activity. At first, I was cutting along the lines little by little. This involved a lot of starting and stopping. My technique was making it difficult. However, I continued. (Side note: Mrs. David was not around, but the memory of her lives on after all these decades.) As I continued prepping, preparing the cards, one for each student, I paused.  I finally figured out that if I cut on the line squeezing scissors until they were completely closed, my cutting efforts would not only require less time, but my work would be straight. Yes! After sixty-plus years since my elementary days, I finally got it! I was delighted!  I learned something too! That’s not only good news, but that’s the straight truth.

Now listen carefully. When you study the word of God, do it diligently, cut it at the right places, get it straight, make sure it lines up with the correct communication God sent through His certain, inspired word.  For you see, when you cut the word right, or let me say, if you rightly divide the word of truth, you will have the same feeling of delight I had when I finally learned to cut straight. Don’t wait decades like I did with my scissor cutting experience!  Do it now! You will be blessed, and you will learn something, the truth and nothing but the truth! My friend, that’s the straight truth. Let the verse below be included in your personal prayer, prior to studying the word of God today.  Have a magnificent Monday! Stay God-conscious, Christ Centered, and be helped by the Holy Spirit! Be blessed!

“Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way straight before me.” (Psalm 5:8 Modern English Version)

Committed to the climb,
