YOU ARE LICENSED!

And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.” (John 21:6 King James Version)

In most cases, and I say that because there are some exceptions; in most cases people who work hard to get a license, professional or for recreational purposes, they do what they have been licensed to do. Think about it for a moment. When people get their driver license, they don’t just keep it for ID purposes, not usually.  They drive. They do what they have been licensed to do.  After years of study, erudite educators get their teacher’s license. They do not merely frame it and place it on the wall beside their diplomas. They don’t store it in the place where they store keepsakes. They teach.  They do what they have been licensed to do. Brokers in real estate do not study hard to pass a complex test to get their broker’s license. No, they get busy, selling of properties and making pretty sale commissions. They do what they have been licensed to do. There are a variety of business and professional licenses, and people who get them use them for the purpose for which they attained the license. And even in the area of recreation, people do not get fishing licenses and hunting licenses, just to say they have them. They hunt and they fish as their license legalizes them to do. Again, they do what they have been licensed to do.

Attained a license, at times, requires hard work and going through a lot of red tape.  But listen, attaining a license is not a burden, but rather the license breaks open the door leading to opportunities.

All that you just read above leads me to this eye-opening revelation, relevant to every believer. Let me make it personal. You have a license to evangelize, to be Christ’s witnesses, to recruit and to retain people since we were granted that opportunity by Christ in the Great Commission. Let me put it another way.  You have a license to go fishing, a license to be fishers of men and women. So, don’t set on the banks of immobility or the shore of inactivity.  Sail into the waters and do what you have been licensed to do. Just in case you need help or motivation to begin using your license again, read the passage below and cast out your net.  Be blessed!

“When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” Simon answered Him, “Master, we have worked all night and have caught nothing. But at Your word I will let down the net.” (Luke 5:4-5 Modern English Version)
