“Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by failing to keep His commandments and His judgments (precepts) and His statutes which I am commanding you today; otherwise, when you have eaten and are satisfied, and have built good houses and lived in them, and when your herds and flocks multiply, and your silver and gold multiply, and all that you have increases, then your heart will become lifted up [by self-conceit and arrogance] and you will forget the Lord your God who brought you from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.” (Deuteronomy 8:11-14 The Amplified Bible)
It is Monday morning, and it is time for your Monday Short meditation. Let me be of concise to comply with your expectations for today, even though, keep in mind that what is considered “short” is in the eye of the writer. Smile!
Consider the verses above, as well as look in to your past and remember that time you paid for your groceries and walked off without your groceries. Good thing the cashier called you back to get what you had purchased. If that never happened to you, then think about the time that you were at a high-price restaurant and you were unable to eat the full serving that you were given. So, you asked for a “To Go” box. You filled the box, not leaving even a morsel on the plate from which you scraped the food that was remaining into your container. You looked forward to eating it later, let’s say, for lunch the next day. You left the restaurant, drove miles from the restaurant. You noticed that you left the “To Go” box on the table. Hence, what you were served, fully served, was left behind and know you would not benefit from it as intended. You had driven too many miles to go back, so you were on your own as it related to lunch for the next day.
Now, yesterday, I am sure that you attended worship service, in person or as necessary, virtually, and you were served a specific message, specifically sent by God, for a specific purpose, at the specific time the saints assembled. My questions for you are simple: “Did you leave the word that was specifically for you behind, or did you keep it in your heart? Did you take it “To Go?” The latter option, hiding it in your heart, is the one that will benefit you. If you don’t believe me, check out the verses below. All scripture is profitable, but if perchance you are one of those “New Testament only” people, I have presented you with both an Old Testament verse and a relevant New Testament verse. Well, what I just “wrote” is short in my eyes. Smile again! Have a great Monday! Be blessed!
“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalm 119:11)
“But whoever looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in his deeds.” (James 1:25 Modern English Version)
