“Children are a blessing and a gift from the Lord.” (Psalm 127:3 Contemporary English Version)
As a child, brought up in the church, I never considered myself as one who was standing in the need of prayer. I viewed others, such as delinquent children, destructive bullish kids, distinctly poorer than even me…peers, and deviant youth as the children who needed prayer.
As an adult my view was changed. As a maturing, born-again adult, my view really changed. I now realize that we need to pray for all children. For there is a lot going on in their minds, molding them and manufacturing self-perceptions and making impressions that take them away from recognizing that they need God, the One, and the only true God, in their lives. Think about it! Children get stressed by their own experiences, as well as the stress by association, in other words stress that is indirectly absorbed from their parent’s anxieties. Pray for the children.
Children are impacted by unconscious and conscious experiences that they possibly will only recognize and respond to as adults, as they try to figure out why they are like they are. Pray for our children.
Technological gadgets and the teachings of fools who say that there is no God, take our children in the wrong direction. And note, for the record, the wrong direction is not always manifested in bad behavior, but even if the child grows up to be a good person, they will lose out because there was no adherence in their home to the Lord’s command to “Teach thy children.” As influential adults that surround our children, and again these adults are not necessarily “bad people,” but rather they are not in a “good position,” in Christ, and they conform to the world and are not transformed by the word, thus the influence they have on children will impact whether or not they seek to have peace with God through Christ Jesus. Yes, Jesus! He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Pray for our children.
Children may not say a word, but they are affected by discord in the home, divorce that separates the home, and the downright real adult issues and any display of apathy in the house about faith in God. Children are not only perceptive, but they are pretty smart. They need coping skills just like the grownups. They have cloudy days when the sun does not shine too, and there are day where the skies “rain on their parade,” just like it happens to adults. Pray for the children.
One last word, okay? Children are not just children. They are a work in process, just like adults, who are all still a work in progress on this earth, and they too, speaking of the children, are dealing with a plethora of problems, predicaments, and philosophical differences about life, to say the least. Therefore, we need to teach them by word and by actions. But remember what I am trying to communicate to you today. Pray for our children.
Children are a blessing and a gift from the Lord. So, should we not be praying for them? Pass this meditation on, for there are others who need to hear what I have written. Be blessed!
“And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.” (I John 5:14-15 NLT)
