“Just as You commissioned and sent Me into the world, I also have commissioned and sent them (believers) into the world.” (John 17:18 The Amplified Bible)
A couple of years ago, I went to the hospital for a surgical procedure. I was unsure of when I would get out, so I started writing in advance and advised readers to check the Mark Writes blog site for the next few days. While I generally send the meditations daily to a growing email list, the blog site is an instrument where I can schedule in advance the publication of meditations. So, as I was preparing daily meditations for a few days to post, I felt the need to post one more. A very, close friend in the ministry said, “Just use an old one from a couple of years ago.” I thought about it and finally conceded. What influenced me to make the confession? I’ll tell you. It was notice that the Lord found it necessary to inspire writers of various books of the Bible to remind believers of our purpose, to go into the world and make disciples. Therefore, if the Lord found it necessary to repeat in His word, as found in various places, our commission, then I should feel okay to make one exception and use an old meditation. I did, and some people really did not recognize it. Why, you ask? Other than the fact that some may have skipped their daily reading, not you of course, the saying is still true, “To hear is to forget,” “To see is to remember,” “To do is to understand,” and some reader needed a reminder, and some needed to respond in doing, showing that they got it, the achieved understanding.
Let’s get back to the Lord, reminding us of our commission as believers, for that is the primary purpose of this meditation. We need to be about winning others to Christ, recruiting and retaining disciples of Jesus Christ. The busyness presented by todays’ hustle and bustle world demands that our commission be revisited and our personal evangelism, and local church evangelism is revived. Think about what you have read, and then, out of obedience, do your best to fulfill what we have been commissioned to do. Remember, we too must do the work of Him who sent us while it is yet day. Nighttime is coming. Have a fantastic Friday, and remember by means of this contemporary phrase, “What He said.” Be blessed!
