“And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’” (Matthew 38:18-20 NASB)
The Lord does desire His house to be filled. I won’t debate you on that statement. But I will clarify what Jesus wants us to do as we fill our local churches. The pastor preaching on Resurrection Sunday made it clear. The Lord wants us to make disciples, not just multiply membership. The Lord wants us to make people disciples and not just make pew members. The Lord does want us to compete with other churches who may have more cars in their parking lots, but He wants us committed to making disciples. He wants us to reach out, recruit, and retain people in the kingdom, by revealing the truth He has taught us. If we do that, we will make disciples.
We have some work to do my friend! Let’s get busy! Let’s get back to the work, being His witnesses, starting more consciously dedicated to Christ’s commission this Wednesday! Evangelism responsibility should not be evaded, explained as a thing “that we used to do back in the day.” Oh, by the way, there is no Spring break for Jesus’ disciples! Be blessed!
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 NIV)
Committed to the climb,
