One of the Christmas gifts from one of my son’s and his wife, is a writing assignment called “Storyworth.” It is a great gift! Each Monday I receive a question to answer based on my own experiences in life that I suppose are worth telling a story about me. Get it, “Storyworth?” At the end of the year, I will have written small book consisting of my response to the personal inquiries. I thought this week’s story was worth sharing. So, here we go! This is what I submitted!
“What were my best trips ever and what made them great? Sounds like a trick question, but I’m not going to trip up with my response. With my 45th anniversary only a little over 2 months ahead, I will tell you with sincerity that my best trip involving anyone on earth was my trip down the aisle where I said, “I do” to my wife. Now, from an entirely different perspective in regard to “best trips,” there is one that deals with another Person (Notice the capital “P.”). It happened on August 11, 1960, when I took a short trip down another aisleway, all the way to the altar at the front of the church and I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord. That trip came with some bonus miles, all the way to Heaven. Let me borrow the words of a songwriter to explain what I mean, “Some glad morning, when this life is over, I’ll fly away, to a place on God’s celestial shores. I’ll fly away!”
After submitting my short story, I thought about the privilege we truly have as believers in regard to “best trips,” and let me tell you, it is one we should take daily and often during any and every day. Where does this trip take us? Well, read the familiar verse below and you will know where to travel to, even today. Yes, take a trip right away! Remember these words: What a privilege it is to carry everything to God in prayer.” Enjoy your trip(s)! Be blessed!
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Matthew 4:4 Contemporary English Version)
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
P.S. Just to avoid unnecessary reminders being sent to me, let me tell you that I know that in this life, I am on a continuous trip, and it is called “The Christian Journey,” where each day I am challenged to live an increasingly better sanctified life! Love you! Be blessed again!
