WE WERE NOT TOLD TO STRIVE FOR PRETTY GOOD!

The Osgood File (Copyrighted in 1986) published a list of poetic expressions, almost proverbial in form, and the writer used the term “pretty good” as the central thought. Among the phrases presented was the following, “When doing arithmetic problems, pretty good was regarded as fine. Five plus five needn’t always add up to 10. A pretty good answer was nine.”

If one subscribed to this saying in all aspects of life, they would never do what the Lord Jesus wants us to do. He told us to strive for perfection, an ongoing challenge on our sanctification journey as believers. I have referred to this before but let me refresh your memory. If we strive for perfection, we will achieve excellence in regard to Christian living.

Remember, we were not told to strive for pretty good!  Have a great day! Show up at church Sunday to see what God has to say specifically for you, and to help encourage somebody else in the assembly of the saints. Be blessed!

“You, therefore, will be perfect [growing into spiritual maturity both in mind and character, actively integrating godly values into your daily life], as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48 The Amplified Bible)
