“By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea into jar; he puts the deep into storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.” (Psalm 33:6-9 NIV)
I remember some time ago, an individual needing to get home to watch a show called “Power.” I’ve never watched it, but judging by the commercials, there are a number of episodes in the series. That was all fantasy, the product of creative art in the entertainment field. Let’s move from fantasy to fact this morning and focus on “The Real Power Episodes.”
Thursday morning while working in the kitchen, prepping a dinner meal, I listened to my favorite song, “God Gave Me A Song.” For indeed He gave me a song that the angels cannot sing. I’ve been redeemed! You have too, haven’t you? Well, if you have, stop what you are doing, take a “Selah” pause and praise God! Praise Him like you really mean it! No going through the motion of praise this particular morning! Praise Him with all your heart.
Back to my favorite song. Some of the lyrics point to the fact that the Lord has power in His hands. And the it keeps repeating, reaching the heart, and has us raising our hands, some of us our motioning our arms up and down, in perfect synch with the music, “Power!” “Power!” Power!’
What should we depend on when times are challenging, crisis are prevailing, and circumstances seem to be failing? We should be depending on the power of God! What source is there to steady us when we are spiritually or even physically weak? I’ll tell you, for it is no secret what God can do! Just look to the Lord, for He has all power to sustain us! When we need strength to push through the strong winds of adversity, agitation, or assaults by our enemy; when our progressive spiritual journey becomes difficult and more power is needed to make our way through the squall that try to squash our progress, what should we do? The answer: Turn on the power switch by means of prayer and call on the Lord to provide you with his power to make it and to take it!
How can I be so sure of God’s power. Well, just rerun in your mind some of “The Real Power Episodes” throughout the word of God. God’s power was revealed when He created the heaven and the earth! That’s a power episode! God’s power was revealed when He brought the children out of Israel! That’s a power episode! God’s power was revealed on Mount Carmel when through the prophet Elijah He demonstrated our God alone is the true God! That’s a power episode! There are many power episodes, real ones, recorded in the scriptures. Revisit them! And make sure you don’t leave out that God raised Jesus from the grave, and He got up with all power in His hands. That is the greatest power episode for mankind.
I was ready to end this meditation and tell you, as always, “Be blessed.” but first I need to have you reflect and remember how the Lord’s power was revealed in your life! Recall how His power saved you from the penalty, power, and presence of sin!! Revisit the time when His power brought you through many problems, predicaments, and personal troubles that no one even knows about that took place in your life story! His power….His power changed your attitude, moved you to a higher altitude, and enabled you to live out the similitudes that Jesus used in Matthew 5:13-14! You are the salt of the earth and the light of the world! His power will help you manifest the attributes that go with those identification terms. Such manifestation will be included in your lifetime version of “The Real Power Episodes.”
Day after day, His power sustains you! Day after day, His power shields you from the arrows that Satan directs toward you! Trust in the Lord, my friend! Depend on His power at all times. Keep recognizing “The Power Episodes” in your life! You don’t need a TV, a smartphone, or a personal computer to view these episodes. Just stay God-conscious, Christ Centered, an clear your spiritual vision so you can clearly see the ongoing power episodes in your life, from a personal perspective. Have a great day! Now, “Be blessed!”
“A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” (Ephesians 6:10 NLT)
