“And then the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, “Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.” (Luke 22:61 NASB)
Sitting at my regular spot before the start of Sunday School, a four-year-old girl comes and stands in front of me. First, she shows me the pretty outfit that she has on. “See my dress! See my shoes!” Next, she shows me the content of her book bag! Book bag? Yes! Afterall, she is going to Sunday SCHOOL! Suddenly she starts looking closely at my face. And when I say “closely,” I mean closely! Her eyes explored, without even letting on what was going on as she examined every detail on my face, a face bless with wrinkled for years of seeing new days.
I’m telling you, the eyes have it! For after her visual examination of my face, she makes a couple of statements that were very accurate. “You have a blue circle around your brown eyes.” I said, “Yes, you are right.” Her eye-report was not over. She says without hesitation or any hint of fear of retribution or a hard, negative reaction, “You have hair growing in your ears.” I reply, “Yes. You are right again!” Showing off her visual acuity, she notices a hair growing off my ear lobe and ask, “Why do you have hair there?” I reply, trying to be funny, “That’s my hair-ring.” I don’t think she got it. Did you? I really got ready to give her an explanation to let her know, at least from my perspective, when you get old or let’s say, “older”, the hair that once came out on the bald spots of one’s head, the one the spots that evicted the thick and vibrant hair that once resided in those places. The strands of hair work in a conspiracy, acting all confused and start coming out in the wrong places, such as the inside of your ear and the outside of your ears. The four-year-old just stares at me, thinking about my “hair-ring” reply and she was probably thinking, “Yeah, right!” Finally, I changed the subject. The eyes have had their turn! I began talking about her pre-school experience.
Yet, let me tell you there are some eyes who never lose a turn. The eyes have it from a Divine perspective too…all the time! Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, the eyes of the Lord see you! Whether you are living as a dedicated, devoted, and discipline disciple, or if you are like Peter and in some way denying you are one of the Lord’s disciples, the eyes of the Lord see you!
Now, knowing you, one who is surely steadfast in the faith and one who strictly lives by the stated principles and precepts of our Lord found in His word, I know you don’t have to be concerned with the fact that the Lord sees you at all times. Right? But just in case; just in case you need a reminder or if you need to help someone else who is blind to the truth that the Lord sees them too, keep in mind, “The eyes have it!”
Oh, I was almost ready to bless you, but I thought I should tell you that just as the four-year-old looked at every detail of my face, people who know you are a Christian, they will be looking, trying to catch you doing something out of the ordinary so they can call you a hypocrite and justify their holding on to disbelief. Maybe they need to be more concerned about themselves, seeing that the Lord’s eyes are watching the evil too!
Now I can bless you before I go shine the top of my head! Be blessed!
“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, watching the evil and the good.”(Proverbs 15:3 NASB)
