“So, Potiphar left all that he owned in Joseph’s charge; and with Joseph there he did not [need to] pay attention to anything except the food he ate. Now Joseph was handsome and attractive in form and appearance. Then after a time his master’s wife looked at Joseph with desire, and she said, “Lie with me.” But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Look, with me in the house, my master does not concern himself with anything; he has put everything that he owns in my charge. He is not greater in this house than I am, nor has he kept anything from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do this great evil and sin against God [and your husband]?” And so it was that she spoke to Joseph [persistently] day after day, but he did not listen to her [plea] to lie beside her or be with her. Then it happened one day that Joseph went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the men of the household was there in the house. She caught Joseph by his [outer] robe, saying, “Lie with me!” But he left his robe in her hand and ran and got outside [the house].” (Genesis 39:6-13 The Amplified Bible)
I cannot tell you to the technical details about one electric car’s acceleration boost feature, but I have ridden in one when the driver I was riding with hit some type of control, and we took off like a rocket ship. I’m telling you; I thought I was in one of those “Furious” movies. In seconds we went from normal “fast” to a speed that caused me to react like I was in warp speed on the famous “Star Ship Enterprise.” Yes, I went where I had never been before, from a speed change perspective.
Last week a driver of the same vehicle was in the inside lane at a stoplight, the lane that does not run out. Next to him was a person at the wheel of a supercharged vehicle that obviously did not have the acceleration boost feature. Let me explain. The driver of the supercharged vehicle was in a lane that was to merge cautiously into the lane in which the driver with the accelerator boast was waiting for the light to change. The supercharged vehicle driver was all ready to jump ahead when the light changed. He was sending a noisy message that his car was fast by constantly, loudly revving up his engine. The driver of the electric car with the acceleration boost feature was not intimidated, not at all. He was, as they say, “cool as a cucumber.” His confidence was unmoved.
When the light changed both drivers took off. The driver with the electric car, equipped with the boost acceleration feature hit whatever mechanism that changes the vehicle to rocket like speed in seconds and easily left the driver of the supercharged vehicle in the dust. He was dusted! No victory for him!
Do you know what? (Say, “What?”) Glad you asked! Godly one, know that temptation is always trying to get us, grab at us, gain a victory over us. But listen, all we have to do is rely on the power source that believers have within us, and when temptation is making noise, revving up, trying to beat you, just turn on the all-power source within you. Hit the accelerator holiness switch or the “I can do all things mechanism,” or the HMJ (Help Me Jesus) feature! By doing so, you will be able to look back at the temptation and say, “Dusted.” All you have to do is stay charged up in the word, stay persistent in prayer because as you have heard, “much prayer, much power,” and definitely depend on the power of the Lord to give you the victory! Go ahead and say to temptation after temptation today, “Dusted!” Have a victorious day.
Jospeh, in the passage above “Dusted” the attempts of Potiphar’s wife’s temptation. You can do the same, regardless of the type of temptations you will face this Friday! Be blessed!
“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” (I Corinthians 10:13 NLT)
