BREAKING NEWS! FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES CANCELLED!

“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” (John 9:4 KJV)

It’s the day after Thanksgiving and I am as full as you are!  I know what we will be eating for the next several days; turkey sandwiches, ham sandwiches, turkey hash, ham and eggs, turkey and ham casserole, ham and cheese quesadillas, mash potato pancakes, turkey soup, turkey salad, ham and turkey taco rings, and turkey spring rolls with cranberry sauce.  So since we will not be worrying about what to eat, let me share an announcement released today about flexible work schedules.

BREAKING NEWS:  FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES CANCELLED UNIVERSALLY!  Actually like the breaking news you hear repetitively throughout the day on the news stations, same stories – just different hosts; actually this is not something you have not already heard before.  Yet it is worth repeating as a reminder for both you and me.  Why?  Because we are always supposed to be clocked in and working as witnesses for the Lord all the hours we are awake and, take it a step further, that schedule will never change while we are on this earth or in the event of Jesus second advent.  We must take the attitude of Jesus in the opening verse.  It does not matter what day of the week it is or even if you are using paid time off.  It does not matter if you are on vacation or you are visiting a small gathering of relatives who live nearby.  That flexible schedule where you do the work of the Lord when you feel like it doing it and take off from doing His work at your discretion, well that schedule has been cancelled.  Those flexible schedules where you take a timeout to partake in the prohibited festivities that others partake of have not been postponed.  In other words, as the “Breaking News” says (Read it like this is your first time hearing the words.), “FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED UNIVERSALLY!”  This is not fake news and it applies to you wherever you live, in every city and on every continent!

Therefore my friend, instead of taking the day off or any increment of time off, put on your outfit of Christian character and get to working for the sake of Christ.  Kingdom building is your job!  Witnessing with a life that reflects your position in Christ; that’s your job!  And don’t forget to take your light to shine!  Don’t forget to take your salt that will purify, preserve, and protect the world around you!  Don’t forget to jump out of your depression and into a disposition that reflects that you have been chosen and not matter what is going on, you still have joy!  It’s your job!  Don’t be late!

What is this that I’m sensing in you?  I hope it’s a positive response!  I hope it is a sense of urgency and acceptance as it relates to your schedule?  I’m speculating that it s it a feeling of being privileged to be chosen to do greater work!?  It’s something positive for sure!   Have a great day and work your FULL SCHEDULE!  No flex-time is allowed anymore.  Didn’t you hear the Breaking News?  Flexible Work Schedules Cancelled Universally!  Be blessed!

“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.  Always be humble and gentle.  Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.  Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.  For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.” (Ephesians 4:1-4 NLT)

Still committed to the climb, Mark L. King
