GREAT BLESSINGS

Have you ever heard of “writer’s block?” Usually, I would define it as a time when a writer could not decide on what to write, but the Merriam-Webster Dictionary had a more technical definition that caused me to have some personal concern.

This online dictionary defined “writer’s block,” a noun, as follows, “A psychological inhibition preventing a writer from proceeding with a piece. That sounded more serious than my definition. Well, instead of being prevented by a “psychological inhibition,” I resorted to being a resourceful person. Instead of being blocked, I referred to “The Book”. Therefore, today there is not a tell-tell story filled with transparency from my life history. Perhaps tomorrow that will be the case, but not today. No, this Wednesday, there is no creative narrative, no original parable, and no innovative poetic prose.

However, no psychological inhibition will impede my spiritual motivation to remain faithful and give you something of value to make you more God-conscious and Christ-centered. You see, I remembered the words of the Chairman of the Deacon Board at the church where I had just been ordained a few weeks earlier, over three decades ago to be exact. I had not planned to speak, and the pastor’s office was filled with well known, well-developed, well-skilled preachers, much more experienced preachers, and they were held in high esteem throughout the community. To say the least, I was taken off guard. I was just there to be supportive. When appointed I said, “I didn’t bring a sermon outline or a prepared manuscript.” That’s when the Chairman of the Deacon Board said, “You have your Bible. It’s full of sermons.” Case closed! There was no further discussion. I just opened my Bible and spoke from The Book of Judges, using as a title, “Where Do We Go from Here?” My main point was that the direction that this newly ordained minister was to go always, up.

Well, with my “psychological inhibition” prevention at work, I decided to counter and open my Bible, just as the deacon told me 35 years ago, and I found some spiritual ammunition that will benefit all if us as we desire to stay committed to the climb. Below is what I found. The content is directly from the Word of God. If you want great blessings, you will find this beneficial and inspirational. The latter cannot be argued since “All Scripture is inspired by God.”

Take a look at it, directly quoted from the Easy-to Read Version, Matthew 5:3-11! Be blessed!

“Great blessings belong to those who know they are spiritually in need. God’s kingdom belongs to them. Great blessings belong to those who are sad now. God will comfort them.
Great blessings belong to those who are humble. They will be given the land God promised. Great blessings belong to those who want to do right more than anything else. God will fully satisfy them. Great blessings belong to those who show mercy to others. Mercy will be given to them. Great blessings belong to those whose thoughts are pure. They will be with God. Great blessings belong to those who work to bring peace. God will call them his sons and daughters. Great blessings belong to those who suffer persecution for doing what is right. God’s kingdom belongs to them.” (Matthews 5:3-11 Easy-to-Read Bible)

Committed to the climb,
