“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray…”
Forgive the English in my title, but don’t’ form a resistant attitude to what I have to ask of you. Criticize me from a textual versus contextual perspective if you so desire, but don’t circumvent the critical question, that is if you are one of God’s people.
In a time where the exodus of men from the church, prompted by worldly attractions, sociological advantages that are wrongly presented as power and perfect life enhancements, a status level that cannot be achieved by church attendance, and the psychological misconception that a man is weak if he is subject to the leadership of another male who, in their words, ”puts their pants on just like me,” God’s people need to pray.
Pray for fathers, and baby’s daddies, those who barely meet the chronological age for being considered a man in our culture and pray for those men who are convinced that manhood is achieved through displaying power and never humility. Pray that men come or comeback to the church. Pray that men will not be ashamed of Jesus and His words in this present generation. Pray that men will deny themselves, pick up their cross and follow Jesus; go beyond their comfort zones. Pray that men understand that there is power in serving the Lord, and it is that power that will overcome weaknesses.
My initial question, “You’s one of His people, aren’t you?” Well, it is time for us to humble ourselves and pray; pray that the exodus of men from the church will be soon eliminated and men enter back into the local church. I am asking you to pray, knowing that I will be doing the same, and believe just as you, that there is power in prayer. Love you all! Be active! Be in prayer! Be blessed!
“Never stop praying.” (I Thessalonians 5:17 NLT)
