This is your Monday Short meditation, inspired by Pastor M.R. King in Sunday School yesterday. In basketball, only five players can be on the floor for your team at one time. In baseball, you can field nine players at a time. In football, the defense is allowed to have 11 players on the field at the same time. The same is true for the offense in football. In volleyball you are allowed six players on the court for your team. All of the sports have rules that allow for substituting, coming off the bench to make a contribution to help their team to victory. Such rules are not needed nor applicable for followers of Christ.
As a Christian, you are on a team where you don’t have to wait to be called in to substitute as a witness for the Lord. So, if you ever find yourself sitting on the bench, or if you ever find yourself not living by the Lord’s principles, put on your uniform, speaking about the full armour of God, and get in the game! Let me ask you a question similar to the question that was posed to Jesus’ disciples after His ascension back to heaven: “Why are you still standing there?” Get in the game! Hope you got the point! Oh, by the way, there are no timeouts! Have a great week! Be blessed!
“After Jesus had said this and while they were watching, he was taken up into a cloud. They could not see him, but as he went up, they kept looking up into the sky. Suddenly two men dressed in white clothes were standing there beside them. They said, “Why are you men from Galilee standing here and looking up into the sky? Jesus has been taken to heaven. But he will come back in the same way you have seen him go.” (Acts 9:1-11 Contemporary English Version)
